Brian A. Randell is a partner with MCW Technologies, LLC. Brian's first home computer was a Commodore 64 with a tape drive. School brought TRS-80s, and later for work, he worked on HP 3000 mini computers. He first started working with Microsoft tech via DOS-based 8088s, followed by PCs running Windows and HP New Wave. In university, he flirted with Apple Macs running Systems 6 & 7. After running from COBOL and RPG, he wrote front ends to the 3000 from Windows 3.x. Later he found out that “COM was Love” while working with the original Visual Basic on Windows. Today, he still loves to write code—mostly C# and T-SQL—and helps teams via consulting and training on DevOps, SQL Database development, and agile software practices using Scrum and Kanban. He was a Microsoft MVP for over 17 years before joining GitHub for a multi-year stint in technical marketing and then developer relations. Today he’s a consultant working for Microsoft and other companies, small and large. He’s co-authored a few books, most recently Essential DevOps. He’s also written quite a few articles and speaks regularly at conferences including VSLive where he’s a co-chair. When he’s not working, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife of 30 years, two children, and their dog; as well as driving his V10 M5, listening to old and new “heavy metal”.
